Shipping & Logistics Companies
Here is a list of companies or agencies that are involved with precious metals shipping and logistics.
The standard and best way to ship precious metals in the United States for retail customers is the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) Registered Mail service. The USPS is an independent agency of the United States federal government rather than a private corporation. The USPS provides up to $50,000 worth of insurance per Registered Mail parcel, which is something that private courier services such as FedEx and UPS do not provide.
In addition, the USPS is a much safer way to ship precious metals and other valuables due to the far higher level of scrutiny and responsibility that each USPS agent faces for every parcel that passes through their custody. As U.S. federal employees, USPS agents stand to lose their jobs and pensions, as well as risk spending time in federal prison if they are found to have committed mail fraud, which means that they have much more at stake than the employees of private courier services. For all of these reasons, the majority of U.S. retail precious metals shipping volume flows through the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) Registered Mail service.
