The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle bullion coin is just a scaled-down version of the famous 1 oz American Gold Eagle that is found in precious metals portfolios across the globe.

The U.S. Mint introduced the 1 oz American Gold Eagle in 1986 and has since minted over 23 million of them thanks to unstoppable investor demand.

American Gold Eagle coins of all sizes are minted from crown gold, which is a wear-resistant consisting of 91.67% gold, 3% silver, and 5.33% copper.

Like it’s larger sibling, the obverse side of the 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle depicts Lady Liberty holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand, while the reverse side features a bald eagle.

The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle is legal tender in the United States and has a US$25 face value.
